About GenOptics
Pioneering label-free detection and multiplex Surface Plasmon Resonance imaging for bio-affinity investigation.
Founded in Orsay, France, GenOptics built a reputation for high-throughput screening of peptides, antibodies, and proteins — now part of HORIBA Scientific.
Our Story
GenOptics was established at the Plateau du Moulon Centre Scientifique in Orsay, France, with a focus on Surface Plasmon Resonance imaging (SPRi). The company developed label-free detection platforms that enabled researchers to investigate biomolecular interactions in real time, supporting applications in peptide screening, antibody characterization, and protein analysis.
On April 17, 2009, HORIBA Jobin Yvon announced the acquisition of GenOptics, strengthening HORIBA Scientific's position in biotechnology research and development instrumentation. In early 2010, GenOptics merged into HORIBA Jobin Yvon S.A.S., and by February 2010 the team relocated to the HORIBA Jobin Yvon site at Chilly-Mazarin.

Core Expertise
GenOptics' SPRi technology enabled researchers to monitor hundreds of biomolecular interactions simultaneously without the need for fluorescent or radioactive labels. This multiplex capability made it a valuable tool in:
- Peptide and small-molecule screening
- Antibody affinity and specificity studies
- Protein–protein interaction analysis
- High-throughput biomolecular characterization
Today, SPRi technology continues under the HORIBA Scientific brand. For current product information and technical support, visit the Technology page or contact us directly.
